One of the principles of the Renaissance was the idea of humanism. Humanism was a philosophy that put humans, rather than religion, at the center of artistic creation, education, and scholarship.
After the Middle Ages, Europe experienced the Renaissance. The Renaissance was not only a period of artistic creation, but a period of intellectual and cultural renewal, new inventions and new learnings about the world. Artists were inspired by classical Greek art and philosophy and attempted to make their paintings and sculptures realistic and complex. Advancing methods and techniques of portraying landscapes and the human body, artists surpassed the ancient peoples in technical skill and creativity.
One of the principles of the Renaissance was the idea of humanism. Humanism was a philosophy that put humans, rather than religion, at the center of artistic creation, education, and scholarship. In the 21st century, the world assumes that digital literacy and Artificial Intelligence will increase effectiveness of organizational processes and problem-solving. However, in pursuit of technological advancement, many organizations have lost focus on the place of the human in the workplace. Despite espousing slogans that people are the biggest organizational asset, organizations too often ignore the fact that a human is the driver and energizer of organizational and social processes. It is time to put the person back into the center of the organizational universe, where everyone’s human potential is fully integrated and further developed. This year, SEAM Institute invites scholars, change practitioners, and leaders from around the world to explore how to revive the focus on humanism in their respective fields of practice and expertise. In addition to the presentations from thought leaders across the globe, there will be engaging panel discussions with subject matter experts and opportunities for the audience’s participation. |
